What we believe

We are Christians.  We believe the basic and earliest Christian confession of faith that Jesus is Lord.

In our worship we profess the ancient Christian creeds, the Nicene Creed and the Apostlesí Creed.  We also celebrate the sacraments of the Christian Church including baptism and Eucharist.  We believe the writings of the Old and New Testament to be the word of God.  We are Trinitarian in our belief, professing God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We believe Jesus Christ to be fully human and fully divine.

A good summary of our faith is found in our Book of Common Prayer that we use in worship and in our daily prayers.  The Outline of the Faith (also called the Catechism) (Book of Common Prayer page 845-862) and the Baptismal Covenant (Book of Common Prayer page 304-305) are especially helpful to guests wanting to learn more about what we believe in the Episcopal Church.

Our worship involves participation.  We stand, sit and kneel as we sing, hear and pray.  Our worship is an offering to God of all that we are.  We are the people of God, made in Godís image.  Our worship is shaped by the liturgies of our Book of Common Prayer accompanied with traditional organ and sacred choral music.    We are a community of people who celebrate beauty, tradition and history.  We love music, the colors of the Christian year and fellowship that we enjoy together.

I will give you as a light to the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.
Isaiah 49:6
