Epiphany in Action
At Church of the Epiphany we are excited about worshipping God, serving others and deepening our own Christian faith.
We have supported mission work in Cange, Haiti through a 30 year old relationship between the Diocese of Upper South Carolina and the village of Cange, part of the Diocese of Haiti. During that time we have helped to build a water system, hospital and schools with the people of Cange.
Throughout the year we collect underwear and toiletries for the Guardian ad Litem program here in Laurens County, as well as food for the Baptist Crisis Center and work with the local schools for the Backpack Ministry Program. During the Advent season (the weeks leading up to Christmas) we have three Wednesday night suppers with a service project focus. The service projects benefit three organizations in our community. This year our projects will support the Memorial Home, Safe Home and Christmas gifts for one needy family in our area.
The Church of the Epiphany works closely with other churches in Laurens, to offer worship, fellowship and educational activities to the wider community. Church of the Epiphany hosts the ecumenical Ash Wednesday service and is part of the Lenten programs on the Wednesdays of Lent. Church of the Epiphany is also part of the summer Wednesdays on Main gatherings and the Community Thanksgiving service.
There are lots of ways to become involved in the life of the Church of the Epiphany. We have a men’s club and a women’s guild which meet and plan fellowship and service opportunities.
We also have volunteers who assist with Sunday morning worship. These volunteers include the choir (sing and lead worship), altar guild (set altar for communion and clean vessels after use, decorate for festivals, care for church linens and furnishings), ushers (hand out bulletins, collect offering, direct congregation to communion rail), acolytes (carry cross and torches in procession, assist minister at altar before and after communion), lectors (read the scripture lessons and lead the Prayers of the People) and Eucharist ministers (assist at communion administering the chalice of wine).
Here at Church of the Epiphany we enjoy fellowship together.
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.”
